Description: CANSail Wet Feet Module
This is a professional development module for current CYA Instructors looking to expand their instructional base. CANSail Wet Feet is a program for delivery specific to 5-8 year olds. The curriculum, lesson plans and teaching methods are specific to engaging this young group while inadvertently teaching them about sailing boats, water safety, and fundamental movement and balance skills in Optimist Dinghies and dockside.

The program is designed to be delivered in sessions that can be offered in half days for one week; a few evening hours once or twice a week for 6-8 weeks; Sunday (e.g. afternoons all summer). It fits nicely into a half multi-sport half day camp program for this age group, where the Wet Feet sailing program is half the day, and another set of activities fills the other sections of the day.

Instructor candidates will receive enhanced training to teach primary level sailing and waters edge orientation to the young child, according to the principles in the Active Start stage of the LTSD.

Course candidates will receive CANSail Wet Feet course curriculum and instructor resources.
Successful completion of this module will recertify your existing Sail Canada Instructor Standard in addition to training you as a CANSail Wet Feet Instructor.
