Description: CANSail Spinnaker and Trapeze Module

This is a professional development module for current Sail Canada Instructors looking to expand their instructional base. Instructors who successfully complete this course will be qualified to teach participants at the CANSail Spinnaker and Trapeze 1 & 2 Levels.

Course candidates will receive training specifically designed for teaching double handed sailing in the areas of:
-Professionalism in sailor development training
-Skill assessment and correction specific to double handed sailing teamwork and boat handling
-Effective interventions and teaching methods, specific to double handed performance development
-Program delivery according to the principles of the Learn to Train stage of LTSD
-CANSail Chutes and Wires 1 & 2 course curriculum and instructor resources

Upon successful completion of the clinic and all the required prerequisites candidates will be able to teach and certify CANSail Spinnaker and Trapeze 1 & 2. Successful completion of this module will recertify your existing Sail Canada Instructor Standard in addition to training you as a Spinnaker and Trapeze 1 & 2 Instructor.

Prerequisites
-Must be Certified at a current Sail Canada Instructor/Coach Level
-CANSail 5 and Spinnaker and Trapeze 1
-Sail Canada Boat Safety Course
-Standard First Aid with CPR C
-Pleasure Craft Operators Card
-CAN Sail Fundamental Instructor Course

You are expected to attend and participate in all aspects of the clinic. Failure to do so will result in a failure in the clinic due to professionalism which is not able to be retested and therefore you will have to register and take the entire clinic again.

Clinic Timetable
Friday, June 14 - 6pm-9pm
Saturday, June 15 - 9am-5pm
Sunday, June 16 - 9am-5pm

The price of this course is $293.68 (includes HST). Your registration confirmation will come from programs@ontariosailing.ca and your receipt will come from sales@ontariosailing.ca.

If you have not received confirmation emails from Ontario Sailing please check that your email address is correct in your profile. Also check your junk mail filter settings to ensure that emails from Ontario Sailing are not being redirected there.

Ontario Sailing reserves the right to cancel any program if the minimum number of participants is not reached. In this event, applicants will be given a refund via their original method of payment.

Refunds may be made for registrant withdrawals made up to 10 days prior to the start of the course; however these are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. After that date, no refunds will be issued. Registrants may transfer courses up to 10 days prior to the start of the course; however there is a $25 administration fee to transfer.

I understand that it is a condition of my participating in this program that I do so at my own risk. Therefore in consideration of my acceptance of entry into this program, I agree to save harmless and keep indemnified Ontario Sailing, the host club or organization, the Canadian Yachting Association, the organizers and their respective agents, officials, servants and representatives from and against all claims, actions, costs, expenses and demands in respect to death, injury, loss or damage to my person or property, howsoever caused, arising out of or in connection with my taking part in this program, not withstanding that the same may have been contributed to or caused or occasioned by the negligence of the same bodies, or any of them, or their agents officials, servants or representatives. I further understand and agree that this release is binding upon myself, my heirs, executors and assigns. I understand that photographs and videos taken of program participants, staff may be used for promotional purposes and I hereby consent to such by Ontario Sailing.   • Swimming Award (One of: CYA Boat Safety Course, Boat Rescue, Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, NLS OR Sea Cadets Small Craft Rescue Award) - *ONLY CYA BOAT SAFETY ACCEPTED AS OF 2015*
  • Must hold a current CYA/CANSail Instructor Level
  • First Aid (Minimum Emergency Level, Standard required as of Jan 1, 2018)
  • Sail Canada Fundamental Course
  • CANSail 5 Sailing Skills
