If you have ever wondered, then this course is for you. You will get to: - fire hand-held flares - use a fire extinguisher on a real fire - swim in a pool with your fowlies and lifejacket on - get into a life raft - cut rigging with your bolt cutters Although this course is called Offshore Personal Survival Course, it is ideal for the every day boater. There's no point carrying all that fancy safety equipment if you don't know how to use it ... so here's your chance! Whether you're sailing across to Rochester, to the Caribbean or in the Lake Ontario 300, something could go wrong and you could be in a position to use your safety equipment and save someone's life. Learn all about emergency situations ... how search and rescue works, the effectiveness of safety equipment, how to predict heavy weather and how to manage in heavy weather. Your instructors for this course have faced 70+ knot winds, mountainous seas, mast failures, hi line helicopter lifts, ship to ship transfers and more. This World Sailing two-day course is internationally recognized and Sail Canada approved. All of this laced with real life stories of the sea. Heading for an afternoon of fun or horizons beyond? This course is conducted over two days: Saturday, February 29, 2020 Sunday, March 1, 2020 Location: Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club Course Costs: $450.00 +HST ($508.50) CONCUSSION INFORMATION You are required to read the Ministry approved concussion awareness resources, and agree to the Athlete and Participant Concussion code of conduct (parents/guardians if the participant/athlete is under 18). By registering for this event and stating "yes" during the registration process you will be electonically signing off on both of these mandatory requirements. Any participant/athlete that does not agree to the code of conduct will be refunded and removed from the course. Your registration confirmation will come from programs@ontariosailing.ca and your receipt will come from sales@ontariosailing.ca. If you have not received confirmation emails from Ontario Sailing please check that your email address is correct in your profile. Also check your junk mail filter settings to ensure that emails from Ontario Sailing aren't being redirected. Ontario Sailing reserves the right to cancel any program if the minimum number of participants is not reached. In this event, applicants will be given a refund via their original method of payment. Refunds may be made for registrant withdrawals made up to 10 days prior to the start of the course; however these are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. After that date, no refunds will be issued. I understand that it is a condition of my participating in this program that I do so at my own risk. Therefore in consideration of my acceptance of entry into this program, I agree to save harmless and keep indemnified Ontario Sailing, the host club or organization, Sail Canada, the organizers and their respective agents, officials, servants and representatives from and against all claims, actions, costs, expenses and demands in respect to death, injury, loss or damage to my person or property, howsoever caused, arising out of or in connection with my taking part in this program, not withstanding that the same may have been contributed to or caused or occasioned by the negligence of the same bodies, or any of them, or their agents officials, servants or representatives.
